ALT Lifts

Type: Branding, Logo Design

About: ALT Lifts is an upcoming medical equipment company selling modern and ergonomic lift chairs. As an alternative to traditional, “bulky” machinery, the product aims to assist caretakers and create an easier transition experience for patients between spaces. In the future, the company aims to produce other medical accessories as well.

Visual Identity Concept: The client had a clear vision of what they wanted. They requested an ourobous (snake eating its own tail) in the aesthetic of an enso circle, which is commonly found in Zen Buddhism. The snake representing rebirth and the enzo circle highlighting strength and elegance. Although the concept is sleek and minimal, I was experimenting with different brushstroke textures and thickness in the initial drafts. After the first round of feedback, the client liked #4 with refinements needed in the snake shape and brush details.

Final Design: For the primary logo, I created graphic brush strokes to mimic the ink strokes while emphasizing the sleek feel. The primary logo will be embossed on the chair product as well as used for the majority of print and web. The client also requested an alternate logo, which would be for future physical merchandise (like a medical wrist brace). The idea was to make it still recognizable while reducing some of the finer details as they will be hard to see when scaled. This project was unique to me as it was my first time creating for physical products. I relied a lot on the client’s judgement and input as most were still in production.
